Trains in the UK do generally try and stop if people are on the tracks to, however, if you have a retard like this who jumps from the bushes in front of an express train travelling 90 mph then they don't really have much choice!

Well, with that being said, if the train were to hit him, the engineer wouldn't know at least here in the US, unless the train is built like a British car, which in that case, the train would just fall off the tracks.

If he wouldn't hit his brakes when he sees the person on the tracks how would he hit his brakes if he hit the person?

Even if he hit the brakes just as he had seen him then I don't think that 20 feet is really enough track for a train that heavy going at that speed to be able to stop.

Anyway, moral of the story, the guy is an idiot!

It takes a train something like double it's length to come to a complete stop, so even if it tried to stop, it couldn't. The train is so close when the guy jumps out, it would've hit him at full speed even if they hit the brakes and started the reverse engine.

I know how long it takes a train to stop. That isn't the point. A train takes miles if its a loaded freight train. My cousin is an engineer for Union Pacific, and I've watched trains and been a fan of trains since I was around 3...so...27 years?

My point is, the engineer is supposed to hit the emergency brakes, and get the train stopping if there is a person on the track because most trains have a 20FT blind spot or more, and he would have no idea if he hit someone. In the case he hits someone he has to be stopped because its a scene of an accident.

He doesn't know if that guy got off the track or not. The engineer sees whats in front of him starting at around 15-20 feet, and can see nothing to the side unless he's hanging out the window, and if its within that 15 foot mark, he can't see it in front of his own train.

And since a train weighs so much, and is SOLID steel, if he hits a fucking car, it barely makes any noise. A person would make NO noise.

I see it here all the time. A train goes by, and someone will drive around the gate, only to be narrowly missed by a train either coming from the opposite direction or the SAME direction.

Trains don't have unidirectional tracks here. If there is a track, or 30 tracks, a train can be coming from either direction.

Actually in the US there is.
You are not allowed to trespass on rail road property. This includes any side roads that are marked as such, and its protected by the Government.

Doing something like this in the states would get him landed in prison if they wanted to prosecute him enough. Slamming the brakes down on a train can cause it to derail.
