I know what you mean. technically, they could have been sued for doing this: it's illegal to take on the mantle of authority to mislead people. the guy that hosts and owns candid camera got the crap sued out of him recently (300,000 - a small bit of his huge candid camera fortune) for dressing up as a cop in an airport and telling people they had to lay down and be scanned on this conveyor belt. even if the person questioned it and thought it was a joke, the phony cop/host/profiter/owner pressed on and said it wasn't a joke and they had to do it. pranks are funny, but taking on the mantle of authority and forcing people to do things for profit is atrocious and illegal. the people pranked in this particular show (scare tactics) generally aren't going to sue though b/c it's their buddy doing it and the person is probably not gonna get mad if their friend was in on it.
