I would always ask for one of those types of planes for christmas, since I was 6 years old. And my parents would always get me that shitty remote control airplane that is connected on a wire and rolls around on the ground lol.

My father in law flys those types of planes. The bodies cost $40.00 and the electronics cost around $300.
When you slam it into the ground at 50 mph, you put all the electronics in a new body and go flying again.

An interesting note about those engines are, they are mini-brushless-3 phase motors. They will turn around 50,000rpm.

I was intrigued by those engines! They looked just like a scaled-down version of real jet engines, which I thought was pretty cool.

Must have took a LOT of time to get those to work right at that scale...

The neat thing about them is they are scaled down, but the weight isn't proportional to the scale. Infact its much LIGHTER than what it would be. The engines are 5 bladed with a light pitch, and the engine case is foam but its aerodynamic to improve flow.
I've held an A-10 Warthog model with those engines and at full throttle it wants to take off right from your hand! With 4 of those (the larger size, with more thrust) that 747 could reach 60 mph.

I've seen a single engine P51 that hits around 80 with the largest ducted fan engine you can buy, and thats ELECTRIC!
I want one, but I live too close to an Air Force Base to fly one without having the feds come down on me.....literally.

Might get one and head out into the west desert. That would be the best place to fly actually.
