No, basic physics says you won't slow down if you hit the kill switch in midair. The only thing acting to slow you down in midair is the air resistance.

The one thing hitting the kill switch will do is insure the bike doesn't keep going once you bail or are bounced. That's why most decent kill switches are in fact a key on a lanyard that automatically kills the engine when you and the bike (or whatever) part company rather than a button.

In any case this guy is (or was, we can hope he learned his lesson) an idiot. You don't, I repeat DO NOT cross the track during a race PERIOD! If I was the guy he hit that dumb ass would be my slave for life sued 6 ways to Sunday.

By hitting the killswitch it will help. Yeah he was airborn at the end but he had a hell of alot of room b4 that to slow down. I got a KX-250 noting great but if you hit that button at 120 withen 2 seconds 40 miles will be reduced (Its the same as braking, cuz the back wheel will not move), you also could do it wit brakes, IF your in not in neutral that is. Id rather hit the kill and get prepared for a crash or dump it instead of worring about braking and sh*t cuz the kill will lock the back wheel and no more power of course. Thats how my dirtbike is I dont know about others. Im not trying to start an argument Im just saying what I rather do.

You know what you're talking about and I agree, hitting the kill switch or laying it down would have been the best thing to do, but he probably froze up. It looks like he comes off the turn on the other side of track and across the infield. Poor track design too then, too little room between and no crash barrier.
