There is no sail so no wind problem. the guy at the wheel was probably sleeping.

Now I wonder what happenned next. Since it's not a direct hit, they might get away with little damage. However given the size of the big boat, they must be well shaken.

It is possible he reveresed his engine and threw the rudder over, forgetting that with the engine reversed you turn the opposite direction. That seems like the only explanation for ending up across the front of the ferry.
