I has something similar happen almost 30 years ago on my motorcycle.

A wood pigeon shot out of a hedge and got its leg trapped between my crash helmet and visor when I was doing about 30mph. It was flapping about directly in front of my face. Fastest emergency stop EVER.

When I had stopped the bugger just flew away!
