Actually no
This is not a auto pilot test, it is an actual crash of a regular line airplane that occured about 10 years ago.
I'm not sure my memory is fully accurate but I think it was a pilot failure. A couple of hundred people died.

it was at the parris airshow about 1990. it was a pilot flown low flyby over the runway, the pilot didnt allow enough time for the engines to rev up. about 100-200 vips onboard, only 3 died, no other serious injurys. it was the first fly by wire plane. i think an airbus

In my naivety & trusting the frontline commentary, I posted this clip without doing any research on it. So the comments posted so far prompted me to do a little digging, this link might shed more light on the facts.

If my memory serves me right, this was not the auto-pilot. I think I can confirm the things that previous posters wrote. It is one of the first Airbus planes with fly by wire technologie. Flown by a pilot and he made a mistake. I still remember the news. (Hell, I am getting old)

I always loved to fly. Not afraid of crashing--die in a plane or die at home, doesnt matter as long as you shag the girl in the next seat anything else doesnt matter.
