This is but one example of why I don't believe in global warming (amongst other things). The Earths weather and seismic powers are far greater than ANYTHING we could ever create. I would be willing to bet we couldn't create a nuclear device that would produce a tsunami, or even a small wave for that matter, if placed in the epicenter of the quake that caused this devistation and detonated.

Missed this earlier but better late than never.

I am quite certain a properly placed explosion could do this kind of damage, or worse. It wouldn't even need to be the fantastic yields of nukes. The key is to to get a big enough slide going in the right place and the population settled in the wrong place.

I'm sure as well that there are conspiracy nuts out there who think it has happened, if not in this case then others.
