most folks don't realize how smart raccoons really are. a guy i used to know raised one from a baby, and he once gave it a sugar cube. it promptly ran to its water bowl and dropped it in. the sugar dissolved. about a week later, he did it again, to the same result. week later, the raccoon put the sugar in its mouth, then took a drink of water. smart critters.

and they don't wash their food, kiddies. they lack salivary glands and have to wet their food to swallow it.
