You'd be surprised how strong power lines are. They're supposed to withstand a lot of different (and extreme) atomspheric conditions.

Powerlines in rural areas have a cable with a power wire wrapped around it. That car looks like its being supported by more than one.

I just finished a government awarded job for wire rope ladders, and I can tell you this. 3/8 cable with a HAND CRIMPED aluminum "button" can hold over 3,000 lbs. We did several tests on this to certify our process. The ladder we made needed to be able to hold 10 people at once. This ladder could have held up a full size truck.

Powerline cable is even bigger than 3/8. Its going to be closer to 3/4 or even 1".

Braided steel wire rope is strong but you have to get the right bundles for the application. The wire rope we used was something like 36 strands per section, 7 sections (a hexagonal twist with one in the middle)
or something like that.
