By 1968 steam was withdrawn from British railways. Woodhams scrap yard in Barry, Wales was the resting place of over 170 withdrawn engines, many of which went on to be restored and preserved, and can be seen on a variety of small private lines in the UK.

I like to see it when antiques such as that are preserved, there is a club near us that has a collection of steam engines, early 1 cylinder "hit and miss" gas engines, steam tractors and other such items on display and working.
