if you clean the snow from the front of your house(from the public path/sidewalk)and someones slips they can sue your ass off.

We have the same kind of laws here.
If someone trips on the sidewalk, outside your house, you can be sued. Even though the sidewalk doesn't belong to you.
The home owner or building owner is responsible for the maintainance of the sidewalk, yet has no ownership of it.

My landlord recently had the sidewalk, out front, re-paved. He had to pay for it, out of his pocket.

Ain't that a bitch.

If the sidewalk is wholly on private property.. its the landlords responsability to maintain it.. in Illinois if you clean the sidewalk of snow or ice and someone falls down you cant be sued because of a good samaritan law... I guess NY has more corruption than the rest of the country.
