I thought the sparks was a light, I've only been on one carrier and that was parked (sorry) berthed at the time in Portmouth navy docks about 30 yrs ago so I can't remember much about it.

I have never been on a carrier... I just watch tv and movies... the PBS hi def show "carrier" was riveting...
