Their cuteness is a trap and a survival mechanism.

The cuteness lures you into caring for them instead of leaving them alone.

Then later on when they shred your couch, poop on your counter top and puke all over your new shirt, you just look at their cute little kitty cat face, and instead of killing them right there on the spot, you think "I bet I could stuff its whole head in my mouth."

After you do, the world is right again.
