Obviously you do not know very much about Macs. You can write programs etc for a Mac. They just don't break down as easily or as often as a PC. I have a PC & a Mac on my desk. They have to reinstall the operating system on my PC at least twice a year because it is unrepairable. The only time my Mac operating system gets reinstalled is when I upgrade the operating system and that is because I back up all my stuff and reformat my hard drive and do a clean install. I worked in a computer lab with PC's and Mac's for 10 years. I have had to repair about 10 of the Mac's for software issues. I repair several pc's a month.

but you repair PCs because people who don't understand computers break them

i have worked with both PCs and macs, and i can say: right clicking is the greatest invention since sliced bread!

We have Deep Freeze to deal with most user errors and we just restart the machine. Most of the repairs we do on the machines happen when we install Microsoft's update and they break the computers.
The control key is the same as a right click on a one button mouse and you can hooks up a usb two, three button or more button mouse up to a Macs and it recognizes it adn it doesn't ask you it you want to install the drivers (duh) because they are already there.

I know people who custom build and/or upgrade their PCs all the time, but they have the knowledge of how to do it properly

How many custom built macs are there?

You cant customer build a mac... it has to be done by the dealer...

You only have to fix it if people are using it

Depends on what you mean by customize and depends on whether it is an iMac or a Laptop or a Mac tower. The towers you can upgrade and take apart and put back together. You can swap or add more hard drives, most hold 4, cd/dvd drives. I have replaced power supplies in the G4's when they were about 6 years old . We have not had any fail in the g5's but I know it can be done. You and swap video cards but I never have. Never had one fail or needed a more powerful one than the one they came with. You can add more RAM to the iMacs and laptop. You can pretty much do anything to a tower Mac that you can do to a tower PC. The only part that I can think of that might be hard to find might be the motherboard. But as the older Macs hit end of life I have torn them apart and played with them

I have a custom built PC at home but in the end it has windows installed on it and Windows is a very unreliable operating system in fact windows runs better on an Intel Mac than it does on a PC.

Amen, Annie! I've been writing software for over 25 years now, and if I wrote software as full of holes as Microsoft I wouldn't have lasted 10 minutes.

My hat is off to the master. What software have you written. Would I recognize any of it? What platform? What language(s)do you write in? I can proof read code for spelling errors, but I have a hard time following it or writing it. The "if, then, else, but, neither, nor, except when the sky is green and the tide turn purple" statements make no sense to me and I can't follow the logic.

he just writes software for wizards you would never cypher it, as it`s wrote in an ye olde english code.

IBM Midrange computer (minis). System 3/34/36/38, AS/400 etc. Mostly in RPG or a number of 4th generation languages.
