Their skin is actually tinted with a body paint to give a more even complexion as this will better help the judges in the front row to see definition, size, and symmetry, and when comparing to other body builders as well.
Some actually cheat by highlighting some areas, while darkening others to make a cut or striation stick out. The judges aren't stupid, and usually those people take last place for even attempting such a stunt.
