I was disappointed for the most part with the movie. Reading The Shining in the scene where one topiary animal would move toward you when you weren't watching and when you did look, the other one would move closer really creeped me out. In the movie with the hedge maze all I could think of was "meh".

I also didn't see much sense in having Dick Hallorann (Scatman Crothers) come all the way up to the mountain resort in a blizzard to rescue Danny and then just have an axe buried in his chest. What was the point in that other than plan old shock factor? The whole point of the movie was ability of good to overcome evil.

Apparently Stephen King didn't care for the movie either. So he had it redone for TV and it followed more to the book including the topiary animals and the survival of Hallorann. JMHO, but I just thought it was a better video.

OH YEAH! As Wendy Torrance, Rebecca De Mornay was WAY hotter than Shelley Duvall.

She was perfect for that role. Robin Williams did a good job of Popeye as well. But I digress . . . getting
