i also live in the NYC area... i ALWAYS give money to these two homeless people:

1) The guy that plays that flute thing in the yankee stadium tunnel
2) Any homeless guy that has a sign saying he will use my money to buy himself beer not food.

I like the ones that dance on the train. They always get some money from me. That shit can't be easy to do on a moving train.
There's this one guy on the A train that fashioned a horse of sorts around his waist & dances & sings. I think he took the idea from some spanish sit-com.
