Wow, I guess baseball and football are cheap! The Nascar stands hold at least 60,000, that's pretty good and then there is TV!

Bristol holds 160,000. been filled every race for the last several years

that's all F1 is too.......I'd say rallies are the only one that isn't like that.

F1 has more than just left turns though....

an occasional right, but they still go in circles. NASCAR has several road courses also. you won't find any racing that is different outside of rallies.

No disrespect inteded but isn't that like any sport? Soccer- Run up and down the field to score a few points.
Basketball-Run up and down a court to score a lot of points.
Ice Hockey- Skate up and down to score a few points but maybe a good fight will break out!

point taken, but those sports more seems to happen, the highlight for the nas car thing is those large crashes (and even those arn't that good as they generally just slide around, very little flipping from what i can tell) but i stil dont understand how people can watch it for as long as they do....speaking of which how long is an 'average race"? i cant watch it long enough to see the end

as the highlights for hockey are fights

the highlights for soccer are hooligan fights

the highlights for football is the big hit

people like other people getting hurt

i thinking more along the lines of tries but yes i do like watching the odd fight, but that doesn't really happen that much in rugby or soccer (soccer hooligans cause riots outside the stadium on the streets, so you're more likely to see that on the news, not during the game

I guess it all boils down to the finer qualities of the sport. The driver is running at about 180 miles per hour. Even thought the air temp maybe 70 degrees fahrenheit the driver can be experiencing temps above 100 degrees.

There are things like drafting, working with teammates, a thing that seems simple like a pass is difficult at those speeds; a slight tap on the back bumper or quarter panel will send a car in the wall.

I can keep writing on this, you really need to watch one race, that's all it took for me.

...pit strategies, paybacks, standing rivals, cheaters...

The flipping is what they are designed not to do. Nascar as taken alot of time and effort to design roof flaps on top of the cars to prevent them from flipping. Driver safety is extremely important. I applaud Nascar for there safety efforts.

. . .i actually disliked it at first . .i went with my husband just because . .but what turned me around was when i took a 'pit tour' . . i got to walk the track at Bristol and it is soooooo steep that it hard to keep your balance . . made me respect the skill of the drivers. .
