actually you rarely feel the initial bite.it's when the shark starts shaking its head that you feel the real pain.

i study sharks as a hobby. i've seen interviews, experiments, and even the only shark attack ever caught on tape the first time it was show. according to victims, it feels kind of like someone is squeezing your flesh (arm, leg abdomen, what have you). this is usually the case; a shark doesn't usually want to eat a human, or know that they are, in fact, good to eat. having no hands, they use their mouths to test things. of course, with a mouth comes teeth. it's highly unlikely they actually mean to hurt victims.

but, if a shark decides humans do make good appetizers, they would act the same as they would with, say, a sea lion. if they catch it underwater, they will thrash their head back and forth to rip off chunks, possessing no mandible with which to chew. if this happens, there is a very slim chance of survival.

but i digress. with test bites, they wounds are generally mild compared to the creature that caused it and what it could have done. it's kind of like if you're doing housework and cut yourself on the arm, but you don't even notice until the soap hits it in the shower or you see it. only a shark bite is on a larger scale, of course.

Attacks can also vary by species. some sharks, such as the zambeze, or bull shark, possess high levels of testosterone, making them very aggressive. they also happen to be the only sharks than can live in both salt and fresh water, and have been found as far inland as, i believe, illinois. tiger sharks can be just as deadly, since they are bigger, have teeth better suited to tearing larger prey. they are called 'nature's garbage cans' for a good reason. scientists have discovered license plates, tin cans, dogs, batteries, netting, flashlights, in tiger shark stomachs. they will eat ANYTHING they can fit in their mouth, literally.

and now i'm rambling. let me know if you wanna know anything else.

I DO. I DO.!!! DO BULL SHARKS LIVE IN FLORIDA?
SOMEONE LIED TO ME I FEEL SO VIOLATED. I SWAM 1 AND 1/2 MILES OF OUR GULF COAST. WHICH IS SWARMING WITH TIGER SHARK. I WAS TOLD THEY ARE THE MOST DOSILE OF SHARKS AND WOULD NOT ATTACK. I WOULD NOT HAVE GONE OUT THERE IF I HAD KNOWN. I DID HAVE A BOAT ALONG SIDE OF ME THE WHOLE WAY BUT, STILL.

bull sharks are relatively common in the atlantic. however, they tend to stay in the shallower water, say, with the swimmers and surf fishermen, which is one reason they're so dangerous. just avoid murky water, don't wear yellow, and swim during daylight hours, say between 9AM and 1PM, to avoid waning light. and always be cautious and look around.

tiger sharks are slightly lighter in color and have the tiger striping; bull sharks are uniform graysh to black. and tiger sharks are much bigger; bull sharks only grow to a length of about 7', while tigers can reach about 20'. and no, that wasn't very smart.
