Oh, they're still there.

The black swans of Dawlish were introduced to the town from New Zealand, over forty years ago.but the black swan is native to Australia not NZ.

Agh bloody black swans, they are so numerous here that in 'duck hunting season' people are ENCOURAGED to shoot em. They are everywhere here and inhibit the white swans population... this photo was taken in Rotorua while we were on holiday. The black swans are aggresive but the white are lovely

they are rare here. there are a few in Devon and some in Scotland and i think that's about it.they have become a bit of a tourist attraction.

Here they make such a mess of the Bird Santuaries. they are on every lake and protected beach in the Wellington area we don't even take photos of them... kinda like that other wonderful/not introduction from Aussie the Brushtail Possum, we shoot them at every chance too

Your black swan situation must be like the Canadian goose here in the states. They are everywhere and annoy the hell out of most people.
Just ask Mino on that one.

I don't like to question God, BUT what the fuck was happening when this creature was created? Ughhh it is FUGLY bigtime!!!
We also have an infestation of Canadian geese, but they are now on the hunters list and I should be tasting a few come autumn... They do look tasty

Which do you have problems with? the possom that spreads hydatis or the geese that return to the same farms every day to eat the crops.... Girl they both are multiplying in huge numbers year round because of our mildish climate and devastating farms and natural flora and fauna (possums eat birds eggs)

If I can't eat what I kill I relocate it someplace else. But as far as the damn geese go,,, yes they are a pain in the kiester, Every year I have to watch my dogs and stand guard over my veggie garden. my dogs are sick puppies, they like to roll in the poop of the geese, but the big problem is with the geese eating from my Berry trees they poop purple and the dogs roll in it and become purple for a few weeks !! Their fur gets stained and even with a bath they still have a purple/blue hue to them !!

The white ones are agressive too. The only thing is that they look better!

Yeah the white ones are a bit nasty, and they stand a dangerous height for men and children

Have you ever seen any cross breeding between the white swans and the black swans?
We have A few Canadian geese here that have mingled with some plain white geese and the off spring are funny looking.

i dont think so where they keep the black ones i never saw white ones there.
