Of course I know who Ian McDonald and King Crimson are Sam - they were formed before you were born.

And if I remember correctly Ian McDonald is also a flautist, like Ian Anderson.

i dont really have a fav. KC CD, as they are all completly different. You cannot summarize KC and say "all their songs are...". The fact that the members (and sounds) keep changing helps change the sound. I cannot think of any other (good) song that uses a chapman stick.

For the past 35+ years, KC has been making albums, and all of them are as progressive today as they were when they were first released. I dont think any other band had such diverse songs on their first album as KC did.
