A couple of days ago Sarah posted a joke about bad wesite addresses, which reminded me of this true story.
A friend of mine, Rob, works as despatch manager for a garden seed company. One day in the pub he asked me what an acronym was so I explained, giving him a couple of examples such as IBM is International Business Machines and RPG is Rocket Propelled Grenade.
The very next evening I saw him in the pub and he told me that he had a very difficult time keeping a straight face during a meeting that day. It seems the company were going for a British Standard called "Investors in People", where input from employees is positively encouraged. The chairman of the meeting suggested calling this policy "The Way Ahead Together".
Rob waited two weeks before pointing out the acronym this produced.
