In the long and cow-filled history of college pranks, two colleges stand out as masters of the pranking craft: Harvard and MIT, located just a few miles away from each other in Cambridge, MA. Harvard is known for its intellectually silly pranks, while MIT is known for its technologically sophisticated pranks -- but screw the past, which school has the better sense of humor today?
To find out, we conducted an experiment where we staged a prank at both Harvard and MIT, then reported on student reactions at each college. The humorless students at Harvard sneered at our sign, immediately notifying campus police to take down the banner, which they destroyed.
Undaunted, we created a new sign, and went down the road to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, hanging it from their enormous, dramatic 7-story building. The reaction from MIT students has to be seen to be believed...
