One of the "Did you know" items prompted this.
The item: "If you add together all the numbers on a roulette wheel (1 to 36) the total is the mystical number 666"
I decided to test it, using an Excel spreadsheet. (For the detail-curious, I put 1, 2, and 3 in the first column, then used the expand bit to take it out to 100. Then in the second cell in the second column, I put sum($A$1:a2) and expanded that. The $ keeps those values the same, while the others change along with the cell involved.)
Anyway, adding the numbers 1-36 does, indeed give 666.
Here's the part that really makes me a math geek, though:
While looking through the list for "milestones" (100, 1000, etc), I noticed something & set a formula to test it out. There is a VERY easy formula to the the total of all numbers from 1 through any number: Top number squared PLUS that number, then divide that by two.
Sum(1:n) = ((n^2)+n)/2
