It is SO HOT !
It's like Africa hot out there, today.
It's that kind of heat that's just impossible to avoid, no matter what you do.
With the humidity, it's about 108 degrees outside. And, guess who doesn't have an air conditioner ...
It's been like this for a few days now. We'll all probably drop like, 10 pounds, just from sweating. lol
You boys would love it here, though. All of the girls are walking around wearing next to nothing. Including me.
And, we're all wet.
lol

We had this crazy thunderstorm this morning. There was massive flooding EVERYWHERE !
A tornado touched down, in Brooklyn, this morning. It leveled like 8 brownstones.
A tornado in NYC, you say ?
Yes, it's true. lol

Anyway ... so weather is a son of a bitch, huh ?!

I wouldn't think of a tornado in NYC. It's just not natural!!!

What's a brownstone?

Are "Toys r Us" in the ghetto called "We b Toys"?

A brownstone is a tall, narrow house made of stone. Most of them have been painted over & refurbished. But originally, they were all brown. Hence, brownstone. They're almost all Victorian, in architecture. And, quite old. Some are as old as the city itself.
They are usually 3-4 floors (the older ones are taller). And, can be a single family home, or broken up into a 3-4 family home (each floor being a separate dwelling).
They're usually in Brooklyn. But, we have them in other boroughs too.
Remember The Cosby Show ? Remember the house they lived in (the outside) ? That's a typical brownstone.
Have you ever seen Everybody Hates Chris ? They live in a brownstone.

Jahmel grew up in a brownstone. In the same brownstone, in which, his dad grew up. I actually lived there for 6 months, as well.

lol

They're very nice places. Just a bit narrow. But, the height makes up for that.

That picture looks like it could be a screen shot from a thousand different movies. Just about any movie that takes place in New York is about guaranteed to have a shot of the Statue of Liberty and a random street full of those houses.

the heat index has been 115 and above where I live with the temps reaching the 100s. I hate walking out my door during the day. They have stopped all outside sports practices now because it's so hot. My son is on the football team and they made them stop practicing the other day because 3 boys from a high school football practice fell out from the heat. We went through hurricane Ivan here, we lost some of our roof, our fence and the roof came off our shed and turned it over side ways and our front deck flew off, it was such a mess and no electricity for about a week, it was so hot. The weather is deffinetly going crazy and it's all only going to get worse.

thanks, but we got a new roof, new fence and rebuilt our shed, thank god for insurance! That was my first hurricane that I can remember going through and I didn't like it one bit. It had to be the scariest, longest night of my life, a tornado touched down right next door to ,when they say a tornado sounds like a freight train they were not lying it really does!! I just hope we don't have another one for a long time or rather never would be fine with me!!

I haven't been on the subway, since June.
I'm still sick & am not allowed to work, for the time being. So, no daily subway commute.
And, Jahmel drives me everywhere else.

Thank you. :)

I agree with you on the subways, but tornados in New York City, now that's fucking funny. Although we're not technically in "Tornado Alley" we are just north of it and we get our fair share and they just aren't that scary if you take the proper course to deal with them. The proper course for a tornado is to 1. Get in you car 2. Find the tornado 3. Chase it 4. Die.

OH FOR CHRISTS SAKE!

Sounds like mother nature got all whacked out in NYC for some reason. Africa hot (or is that Africa Hot!™) coupled with flooding and tornadoes...About the only things left to hit you are earthquake, tsunami, locusts, nuclear blast, and Hillary Clinton.

You forgot to mention hurricanes... We were bitch-slapped by Charley, Frances and Jeanne a few years back. We lived for over three weeks in the heat of the Florida summer with absolutely no power, with our house falling down around us. On the plus side, we got a new roof, new floors, new paint, etc...

Here in AFRICA, it is 22-16c (or 71-60F). Cold and nice with occasional rain.
I know how it feels when its that hot. Drink lots cold drinks, ice lollies (or however you call it) and don't move :P always works.
I hate hot weather!!
Hope it gets cooler soon!

Growing up in south Louisiana, I can relate to the horrendous weather NYC has recently suffered - just without the 8+ million pissed off neighbors. Glad that you are trying to keep cool & get well soon.
