My mother recently gave me some very good advice.

She told me that their are 2 things that you NEVER discuss in public.

Those two things are:

Religion
and
Politics.


But on a more funnier side.

My good friend Kenneth is an oober Catholic dude. He brought a prayer book to school one day and started to preach to me. Thats Kenneth.

The problem is that Im an Atheist. and He didn't know. So when I told him. You can pretty much guess that he started ranting on about how there is a god. And I was VERY tempted to see his reaction if I told him that I was a lesbian (Im not). I didn't tell him, but seeing him rant and fume to me telling me (Im dead serious) ,"If there's no god then Who pushed the button that set off the BIG BANG!!"

Im sorry but I just started to laugh, because I had a picture of God hiding behind a boulder yelling," FIRE IN THE HOLE!!"


but if anyone is offended. Just breathe and picture the above. and tell me that you don't find it kind of funny.


But Ive never told anyone in my small town that i was an atheist.

Guess where i live. The South. You actually are hated if your gay at my high school and you might be jumped if your an atheist. But thats why I keep it a secret and listen to my teachers try and teach me about the bible. I've had a teacher actually bring a crown of thorns her husband made and actually start crying about Jesus.

BUT NEVER SPEAK ABOUT RELIGION IN THE SOUTH!!!!!

OR POLITICS!!! I learned the hard way.

NEVER discuss religion, politics, or money is my motto.

I've been in heated discussions over whether or not there is a difference between an agnostic, which I am, and an athiest with religious people that refuse to see the difference.

With politics, thats a no brainer. Everyone has an opinion, and thankfully there are more than just 2 choices on whose side you can 'claim' you are on.

With money, people will bitch they are broke, yet when I suggest ways to get out of debt, I get my head bit off and told "OH REALLY, AND WHAT DO YOU KNOW ABOUT MY SITUATION?" and shit like that.

I talk about religion and politics all the time. I'm also an athiest, and I live in Texas. Most people seem to avoid it because they don't know anything about it. Not because they care about how somebody else feels.

most people avoid it because like what happened to me, when I posted the little blog about the war in Irag, I didn't get mad at the other opinions, to me it was just seeing how other people felt about it, but people do get upset and I wasn't looking for a argument or anything, but I found out real quick things heat up real quick in those areas!!

Well I LOVE talking about politics and religion, all the time to anyone who is egar to listen. However I live in a tolerant society (unlike the American South from what I hear) and you wont be hung by balls for saying that you believe in something else (besides scientology, everyone hates those fuckers) or being gay.

I would say that if you dont like the society you live in, move, or the hard option is try to change peoples minds.

I generally don't talk about religon much, and I used to not talk about politics either till now, but only because this war has gotten so out of hand, and I'm all for the US, because its my country so I don't have alot of sympathy for Iraq and I know that offends some people but I'm sorry this is MY country and I care about MY people dying over there, and thats why you can't talk politics!!

Relious & political conversations, between people with differing opinions, just turn into fights.
Pointless fights.
And most of the time, they can get really juvenile. All the name calling & what not.
That's why I rarely get into those conversations.
If I'm going to fight with someone, it's going to be for a problem that I can solve.
Regular people don't have enough power to do any real changing to politics & religion. So, I don't see the point. Why raise your blood pressure over something that you can't do much about.

So ... that's what I think. :)
