ok. reality television.

REALITY television is not REALITY.

When people are put in front of a camera, they do not behave normally. Therefore it is not reality. The show "Lost" is not REALITY. If it was the fat guy would have been eaten and fed them for weeks. I am tired of these stupid reality shows. The only one I watch is "Kathy Griffin: My life on the D-List." She is funny and so are her parents. (their Catholic)

"American Idol" the only reason we watch it is Simon Cowell. Not for Randy Jackson and especially not for Paula Abdul. She's even got a new reality show called "Hey Paula!" AH!
It is life changing for some, but for others its a wake-up call that they can't sing. Those people I admit are hilarious when they are shot down by Simon.
But thats all. (The above are my personal views. They reflect my insignificant views. So if you have been offended in any way. You probably need to open your eyes and your perspective on life. But thats just my thought.)

You're right. People don't behave normally, when the cameras are there.
That & the fact that the shows are partially scripted.
So yes, these shows can't truely be called "reality" shows, because they're not totally real.
The whole reality term is a farce.
It's reality in that, the people aren't actors & the shows aren't fully scripted. But, it's not reality in that, it's just not totally real.
Period.

And, I like that Kathy Griffin show too. She's pretty much awesome. She works very hard. And, I do enjoy her family.
Of course, I've always had a soft spot for the "underdog", as it were.

Also, "Lost" isn't pushed as a reality show.
I understand you're point about Hugo (the fat one). But, I feel it was a bad example, given that "Lost" is a drama, filmed on a set.
Anyone who thinks (if there is anyone) that "Lost" is a reality show, needs to be shot. Just for being that stupid.

Thats why I LOATHE TV I don't even like HBO & STARZ I prefer to have the tunes anyday any time of day. And my all time hatred is SOAPS I hate them & these silly women out there watch and think thats how life really is !! Poor FOOLS...

that's why I watch old comedy re-runs......Three's company,I love lucy,Andy Griffith.....those kinds of shows,no violence,low key sex,just good fun

yep !! Thats the key. I wish they would do reruns of programs like old ones like "My 3 Sons, Any Larel & Hardy Movies or my all time favorite Vauderville actor Mr. W.C. Fields. Where are the reruns?? Remember Father Knows Best? or Bill Cosby in "I Spy?' Or The Green Hornet 77 Sunset Strip W/Cookie??

I agree.

Some of the shows only let you audition for 10 secs and you expect them to be of quality.
