I just tore down an old wood shed on our property . .WHEW! and, have decided to TRY to grow a garden . . i am digging up the soil, but have NO CLUE what i can plant this late. . . any gardeners out there? do i need to add anything to the soil? i love green onions, field corn, tomotoes, lettuce. . .i found out that the frost date here is around October 13th. ANY advice would be appreciated!!

You should do alright with lettuce and spinich type stuff. Corn I am not sure about this late. You are farther south and have a little more growing time. Give it a try, but don't invest to much into it just in case. Try to find some plants already started.
