Loot Count !!!

My boyfriend and I are thinking of buying one for our Christmas present to each other.

Does anyone have any personal experience with one?
Any reasons that I should or shouldn't get one?

I don't want to get other consoles because they cost too much money, but I wouldn't want to get the Wii if it's a complete waste of money.

Thanks in advance.

Do you like it? Is it better than the 360? Are the reasons I state below correct? You made your comment while I was typing my reponse.

My son and I had an extensive discussion on this, he's 12 so he should be considered the expert on this topic (Naruto on this site).

I guess the most important thing to consider other than the machine is the games it can play. Choose the games you like before the machine.

The biggest factor for him and many is that it plays all Nintendo games from N64 on up, completely compatible. In his opinion and that of many of his friends for quite a while is that Nintendo has made most of the best games and do not license them out.

Another factor I like is that the controllers are interactive, that is if you want to swing at a ball you swing the controller in your hand and the ball will be hit quite the same way you would hit a ball in real life. Don't count on the strap to keep the controller in your hand though, they are recalling the strap due to it breaking and breaking some expensive TV screens in the process.

The Microsoft and the Wii are the two latest greatest on the market. Both are Hi-Def, but of course you need a Hi-Def Tv/Monitor to enjoy the benefits.

There have been many reports of the 360 melting discs after 2 or more hours of play. That wouldn't surprise me since Microsoft has a history of patching things later. I think they didn't care just to get it out in time for the holiday demand.

Alex got a 360 so wait for his report.

I think the bottom line should be the machines capablility to play the games you want. My personal like is that my son will get exercise in addition to playing the video game!

People will forget what you said.
People will forget what you did.
But people will never forget how you made them feel.

I got a 360 because most of the games I want that are coming out later are 360-only. From what I've seen so far, the Wii doesn't have many good games yet. I think Zelda is the only good one. The PS3 is way overpriced for what they're offering. You might as well by a computer from Dell and get better graphics (but that's a problem with all consoles really). And again, not many good launch games. For either one, I'd wait a while and see what later games are like.

I haven't had any problems with my 360. I just got done playing Saint's Row for 3 hours....no problems. But it does run a bit hot. I might have to take it off the rug :)

I don't know about the other consoles, but I've heard of a couple games causing the 360 to freeze/crash. I haven't looked much into it, but it seems like it's the usual stuff: their disc is scratched, moved the console with the disc playing, etc. I have several of the games that are supposed to do that (Ghost Recon Adv Warfighter, Rainbow Six: Vegas, and Splinter Cell: Double Agent) and haven't had any problems.

I guess basically it's about you taste in games. I absolutely love Zelda and Final Fantasy, but I'm not goning to buy a new console jsut to play two or three games. I went with the 360 because a lot of games I want are only on the 360 and it has a much stronger current game line-up since it's been out for a year.

my friend bought a wii. if your prepared to stand for 3 hours in line and hoooppefully still get one then by all means, they are supposed to be the best on the market. they also are pretty much the wave of the future. the wii's sales are putting xbox's sales to shame and sony's loseing millons of dollars. the movement or whatever you want to call them joysticks are dominateing everyting. ps3 has one in thier for raceing games so if you tilt you turn but the wii has 17. like alex said, its about the games though. xbox has this one called gears of war, its good. like really good. but the wii has zelda, which is supposed to be really good, red steel, which ive played and is good. and madden 07, which was named the best game of the year. its really up too you though but the wii is the wave of the future and is leaving the other consoles in the dust.

I wouldn't get one just on the simple fact that I've fallen into the trap of sitting on the couch playing PS2 all day rather than doing things that needed to be done around the house.

My wife didn't fall into that trap because she had even less ambition to get out of bed.

Go buy a tandem bike and go for long romantic rides around your neighborhood. Be sure to get a little bell for the handle bars so you and RING RING as you peddle around making the neighbors jealous of your together time.

The wii is good if your into a fanticy/figting stlye games, however the graphics card in it is only slightly better then the old game cube graphics card. the controller with the motion sencer makes up for the lack of graphics though.

The other 2 systems are good if your intrested in really fanastic graphics, however too truly enjoy the grapics you need a HD tv.

Out of all three systmes i would choose the X box 360 for any givin shooter game, as these are my favorites, the wii for any sports/fantisy sword swinging game because the motion controller puts you right in the action, and the PS3 last because it is a computer that plugs into your TV and who needs that???

the reports of discs melting after 2 hours of play is total BS. sony made those reports. i have a 360. no problems with it and i LOVE IT.and when you say the ps3 is more $ that what it offers. you are sadly mistaken. it has the processing power of 8 PS2's and it has a blu-ray DVD player built in. if you buy those standalone. that will set you back about 1500. and the Wii is just laughable. sure it can play all N64 games. at 5 bucks each. the graphics are just terrible. but by all means if you enjoy throwing your arms around the place like a damn idiot. feel free to get one. the 360 has a great libirary of games and has the best online service PERIOD. video&voice chat. co-op play. and all games have downloadable content. most is free. get the 360. trust me.

I just saw a video on Youtube on frying a steak on a 360. Maybe you got a good one. Microsoft is notorious for fixing things later.
