Today is Friday the 13th.
Anyone here superstitious?

I have no superstitions. I believe its bad luck to be superstitious.

Write a complete and comprehensive list of all of your superstitions.

I'll give bonus points to anyone for any reason. But more than likely it will be for those that post an old family recipie for such things as biscuits, roasts, pies, or anything that can be made into a casserole.

Mostaccioli Italiano

1 pkg mostaccioli, uncooked
1 lb ground chuck, cooked and drained
2 (26 oz) jars of pasta sauce (I prefer Ragu)
4 c. shredded mozarella cheese

-cook pasta according to package directions.
-preheat oven to 350 degrees
-in large bowl combine pasta, ground chuck, pasta sauce and 2 cups of the cheese; mix well
-spoon into a greased 13x9 baking dish and cover with foil
-bake 45 min. or until the cheese is bubbly
-uncover it and top with the other 2 cups of cheese and bake 10 more minutes.

It didn't originate in my family, but we have been making it for years.

I usually buy the stuff in the deli section of the store - it's in a plastic bag.

I think I would drain it but skip the rinse! I like kraut to have a good strong bite!

My superstition is to never walk away from a winning slot machine.

Chicken and Stuffing Casserole

1 pkg. (6 oz.) instant stuffing mix
1/2 c. each chopped carrot, celery and onion (optional)
1 can (10 3/4 oz.) Campbell's Cream of Mushroom Soup
1/3 c. milk
6 skinless, boneless chicken breast halves (about 1 1/2 lbs.) (Recipe works best if you pre-cook the chicken)

Preheat oven to 400.

Prepare stuffing according to directions on box, but add the chopped veggies.

Mix soup and milk in a bowl. Set aside.

Spread stuffing in casserole dish. Top with half the soup mixture. Chop or shred the chicken and spread over casserole. Top with the rest of the soup mix.

Cover and bake for 15 minutes. Uncover and bake another 10-15 minutes.

Very good with gravy!

I enjoy bacon.

Pie chart.

I'm glad I'm not superstitious, I would have been scared to death today. I had my gas turned on today and my pilot light lit.

All my recipes are quick and easy,
Chicken Pot Pie
10 oz can of cooked chicken breast
1 can of cream of mushroom (or cream of chicken)
2 cans of mixed vegetables
1 tsp. of thyme
2 ready made pie crusts

Mix all ingredients (except shells)
place pie shell in pan
spoon ingredients in shell
cover with second shell pinch together
cut small slit on top

Cook at 375 for 30 minutes or until shell is golden brown.

Of course I have to triple the recipe.

Hey there Monkey -- One of the things I've missed a lot from not being around is your humorous and smartass remarks! Glad you're still around.

I'm not superstitious -- heck I have three black cats crossing my patch everyday!

Here's a simple recipe anyone can make!

Easy Tasty Jambalya:

1 box Jambalya rice mix
1 smoked Turkey sausage (cut in small slices)
3/4lb boneless & skinless chicken breast (cut into cupes)
1/2lb frozen cleaned/deveiled cooked shrimp
3Tbs olive oil
All purpose seasoning mix
White Wine

1. put the shrimp under cold water to thraw.
2. season the chicken breast
3. in a deep pot, with tight fitting lid, add the olive oil
4. saute the chicken, when it is almost done, add the sausage and continue to saute
5. when chicken is cooked, add the amount of water stated on rice box minus one cup
6. add 1 1/2 cup white wine
7. bring to a boil, add rice mix, stir well
8. bring to a boil again and stir
9. lower to simmer and cover
10. check and make sure shrimp is thrawed
11. 20 min later, add shrimp and stir
12. cover, and cook aprox. 5 more mins

Enjoy with a glass of white wine and a salad!

You can also add scallops, and you can use freash shrimp (just takes longer cause you have to clean it). If you do use fresh shrimp and or freash scallops add to rice 10mins earlier to give time for them to cook. Adjust amount of sausage and chicken and shrimp to your personal taste.

I'm not superstitious, but I am allergic to pub closing times. And I have to plan all routes carefully as my legs will not walk past an open pub.

Stuffed Marrow (Marrow Squash)
Serves 4

INGREDIENTS:

1 Marrow, peeled
1 1/2 oz (42g) Butter
1 Carrot, sliced
1 Onion, peeled and chopped
8 oz (224g) Minced Beef
1 teaspoon Chopped Thyme
1 Small Egg, beaten
3 oz (84g) Breadcrumbs
3/4 pint (450ml) Stock
3 oz (84g) Cheese, grated

METHOD:

Cut the top off the Marrow. Scoop out the seeds and discard. Heat the Butter and fry the Carrot and Onion. Add the Beef and Thyme and fry for 5 minutes. Remove from the heat, add the Egg, Breadcrumbs and stock. Mix well, then pile the stuffing into the Marrow. Replace the lid, place on an ovenproof dish and bake at 375F / 190C / Mark 5 for 35 to 40 minutes, until tender. Sprinkle with Cheese and bake for a further 10 minutes to brown.

Usquequaque in fimus, tantum sublimitas varius.
