so 2 people here have made blogs of reposts already, and heres what i think

new members: browse the random media for a while before posting content from all those websites that have "original" content. It will help show you whats already here. I waited almost 2 months before posting content, and saw almost everything on ugoto.

Yes, ugoto has some of those videos and pictures that EVERY other site has, but the glory of ugoto is the community, the fact that WE can vote and choose who sees what. The problem is when one new person posts a repost, and other new people vote for it, thinking its new, and when a veteran yells "repost" they jump on him like a pack of wild dogs.

another thing that i mentioned earlier is how new people are voting for reposts so they make the front page. I dont want to turn this into a monarchy, but i think only site veterans should be able to vote, as they know what is new and old, and can help dim down the number of reposts.

Alot of new members come here, and first thing is post tons of videos and pictures. since they did not check the site earlier and see whats on here, they post a few reposts. When someone would call it a repost they would say something like "i didnt know, im new". That isnt a resonable excuse. Just because you are new, you can still browse the site for random media.

Also, when new people tear up other people for saying "repost". They are telling you that the picture/video has already been submitted, and maybe they liked it the first time. dont take it personal and start calling people gay or fat or that they spend too much time on the computer. It takes 5 minutes to hop on, see the new stuff, and check some random media. If 5 minutes is too much time infront of the computer, something is wrong with you.

so please, check before posting, and dont tear up people because they're calling something a repost, and maybe even change the voting system, so only site veterans or ultimate time wasters can vote

I almost agree with you. I think everybody should be allowed to vote though. Voting should be about what you like, not whether it's a repost or not.
To me, reposts are only annoying when there's a ton of them at one time (usually all posted by one person; cough cough).

A lot of what you recommended I tried to communicate in my blog. What's amazing is that you can use the F word here but not the R word. I don't mind the occasional repost, I've even done it. I understand with over 30,000 posts it's going to happen. It's when there is a ton of them that is why I wrote the blog. There has been a ton lately, mainly from new comers who dont't look at Recent Media as we both said they should check.

Reporting media as a repost seems to be a waste of time. Why have it if you don't do anything about it?

The people on Ugoto have changed and the bickering in posts seem to be at an all time high. This isn't the same site just five months ago.

Instead of getting upset with anything I think it's time for me to take a break from the site.

Very clever mino!
When I first got to the site, i checkd all the posts (not in the same day!), so when I wanted to post something, I could remmber if it was posted before or not.
Perhaps new members just post before even enjoying the site and looking what there's on here. Pity, cuz thats the point of this site.

The "report media" drop down list under every picture has "duplicate" in it, click on it if you think the picture is a repost.

Wisdom isn't just knowing what to say, it's knowing if to say it and when. This

Go look at a picture. Directly under the picture on the left side it says "report Media". Click on the little downward pointing arrow. Select "duplicate" if you want to report a repost.

I have'nt really said anything on the subject because people seem to jump down your throat when you complain about re-posted, i have been on this site a year now infact and before i post anything i look throught the last 2 months of posted media i.e. pics etc. and if its not there then i would post it because even if its a re- post some people may have not seen it if they are new.

I do agree that lately certain people have posted nothing but re-post's some things only been on the week before, thats why to be honest altho i do like the voting feature i did prefer it when joe controlled the posted media.

The idea about site elders only being able to vote, my opinion is that that would probably be a good idea on one way but not in an other i item may be a re-post but not of been posted for a while so would be a good thing to be show again for the purpose of newbies
