Upgrading My Computer

I have just finished upgrading from Windows ME to XP. Not everythings happy though, so we got a friend of ours in and he said that the best way of dealing with the problems is to upgrade my computer (hardware) and to then reinstall XP. So in a few days time I'll be getting a much better computer. As he put it (roughly), my computer is like a mini trying to pull a truck! I'm going to be glad to have my computer running well (and fast!) and to be getting back to doing my normal stuff. Damn computers can suck when they want to!

If it requires a new motherboard look into a dual core processor, definetly worth it.

Windows ME was a dog of a operating system. I had a laptop that came with it and went to go backwards to Windows 2000 Pro and still had problems, so the machine was more than capable of handling the operating system.

If you continue to have problems after the upgrade the best thing is to take it to a computer shop and have them take care of it otherwise you will probably throwing good money after bad.

Dual core is a good idea, but if it's not urgent and you have the cash, AMD are reported to be releasing a Quad core in 2007.

I wish my grass was an Emo, because then it would cut itself.

If the system was designed with ME in mind... dont bother.

Hardware capability will be limited to fit the operating system... drivers will be hard to find..The case and power supply are probably too small to start with... start over it will be cheaper.

You're more than likely correct. More than likely you can get an HP bare-bones system for just over $400 now that is probably twice as everything as your ME machine. Just stay away from Dell.

I recently acquired a new Gateway with the AMD Dual Core processor, and all I can say is WOW!!! I'll also advise that you be generous with RAM... the more the merrier!

I don't have to attend every argument I'm invited to.

This is an age in which one cannot find common sense without a search warrant.
