Forking out money for expensive stuff when the cheaper version is often on par or better quality.

Example. Recently I aquired a pair of jeans from a fashionable mens store. Now these Jeans usually retail for $265, Luckily I know the guy who owns the store so I get things at cost, still I paid about $80 for them. About 3 months later I have no pockets as the material has disintergrated, there are holes forming all over them, now usually this is fashionable but when some of the holes are in the crotch, certain things can be seen that shouldn't be. I have bought many pairs of jeans from cheaper stores around the $15 - $25 mark and none of them had this problem.

Another Example...

I have been known to dabble in writing Psy Trance, a type of music for the unfamiliar, and some of the stuff coming out these days contains metal sounding guitar riffs, i think it sounds great so I went out to buy a guitar so i could take advantage of this. I went down to my local Cashies (a pawn shop) and picked up a brand new generic brand bc rich warlock copy for $300. Now as i hook up intruments straight through the computer I took it over to a friend who has a large amp and bin to test it out properly. The resulting sound was about 100 times better than the $1500 Maton guitar I used to own.

Why is it that expensive crap is rarely as good as it's cheaper counterparts.

And that's what really grinds my gears.

You are getting older...Congatulations! Wonder why I can care less about fashion? It's because the only ones getting rich are the fashion producers. In my heyday it was Members Only Jackets, would you wear one now today? You would have paid top dollar for it then!

i dont know what Walmart charge for a pair of jeans but Asda sells them for £3.

Sometimes people just buy so they can wear the name of the brand. Sometimes are good quality and some are not.

I only buy Diesel jeans. They defintly worth the price, I have one which I bought 7 years ago and I still wear it lots.
When I buy brands (and I love brands), I make sure they're the best quality. Then they wworth the price.

the thing with guitars is 2-fold

A) some (rich) people are willing to shell out a ton of money to buy a guitar if it looks cooler than other ones

B) some guitars are made for different types of music, like a WE-AAH-WE-ANGH or like a DUN DUN DUN or like a WEE-WEE-WEE-WEE-WEE

I've had the same problem with women's jeans. A $60 pair will start fraying at the end in 2 weeks where a $20 pair will last a lot longer.

By the way, what the heck are you doing to the jeans that the material is disintegrating in the crotch???

I hear you on the guitar thing. I have a 1986 Gibson Les Paul Custom, a 1995 Ibanzes Sabre, a Jackson, a Yamaha 12 string and an Ibanzes 6 string, and I have played on guitars bought at Sears that had better action better over all intonation, and were set up properly from the factory.

The only problem with the cheaper equipment sometimes is they don't use a noise cancelling pickup like a Humbucker. They use the old school single coil inductors.
