I'm looking to get a new wireless card for my Dell laptop before it catches on fire and becomes completely useless.

The wireless card in it for what ever reason won't run. Something about a driver. I didn't install this card, someone else did, so to hell with it. I want a new one.

What brands do you suggest?

Hurry. This thing might combust at any moment.

I recommend Linksys as they are usually the easiest to setup, supported by most devices, and have decent tech support. It will most likely run you under $50 at your local BestBuy.

Also, be sure you dont get anything less than a G. You'll kick yourself in the ass later on if you get an 802.11b.

The few I looked at were the G. They were also backwards compatible which appealed to me being I'm moving this weekend, and I have no idea what my sister is running but its wireless and fast.

I'd go with Linksys too......cheaper than $50 if you go to Office Depot.

If you want speed, there's a 108 Mbps card...that'll run you a bit more though, so if speed isn't too important, just stick with the cheap ones.

Make that 3 votes for Linksys, but wouldn't finding the driver be cheaper and probably faster than going to the store?

Stop at Home Cheapo or Lowes and get a fire extinguisher on the way back!

I've downloaded the driver 5 times from Intel. Son of a bitch STILL won't work. It "can't find the driver."

I threatened it with a .44mag slug, but nothing.

So Joe, I still have my old hard drive on my desk at work. I'll put my old wireless card next to it in the "demolition" pile. Its gonna happen when I get some free time. I promise.
