A president has no control of any price of any product or service.

The economy is very strong with unemployment under 5%, inflation is low, more Americans own thier own home than in anytime in history. There hasn't been a terrorist attack on American soil since 9/11.

Not bad since none of this grabs the headlines from the biased left media.

People will forget what you said.
People will forget what you did.
But people will never forget how you made them feel.

It was Clinton that refused CIA updates for his entire 8 years in office and has been proven investigation after investigation this was a contributing factor to 9/11. The biggest problem wasn't the lack of intelligence that the US had, the FBI, CIA and NSA all had pieces of the puzzle, they just didn't share the info, which was corrected by Bush under Homeland Security Act.

Shall we move on to North Korea? The promise of a nuclear reator to North Korea for peace by the Carter Administration delivered by the Clinton administration. Thanks again Bill, and there is talk about sHillary for president?

I have to quote Monkey "Amazing. You have a wealth of knowledge bestowed before you via the internet, and you don't use .05% of it."

If you don't pay attention to history your are bound to repeat it. Here is a quick internet search:

Somethings never change though, here are lyrics from a 70's song Ball of Confusion:

People moving out, people moving in
Why, because of the color of their skin
Run, run, run but you sure can't hide

An eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth
Vote for me and I'll set you free
Rap on, sisters, rap on

Well, the only person talkin' 'bout love, my brother is the preacher
And it seems nobody's interested in learning but the teacher
Segregation, determination, demonstration, integration
Aggravation, humiliation, obligation to our nation

Ball of confusion (oh, yeah, yeah)
That's what the world is today
Woo, hey, hey (let me hear it, let me hear it, let me hear it, say it)

The sale of pills are at an all time high (say it)
Young folks walking 'round with their heads in the sky (oh, say it)
The cities ablaze in the summer time!
And oh, the beat goes on

Evolution, revolution, gun control, sound of soul
Shooting rockets to the moon, kids growing up too soon
Gloria (round and around and around we go)
Gloria (where the world's headed nobody knows)
Alleluia ([Whoopi] Play Alma, go ahead girl)

Oh, great googalooga, can't you hear me talking to you?
Just a ball of confusion
Oh yeah, that's what the world is today
Oi vay

Fear in the air, tension everywhere
Unemployment rising fast, hip hop music's a gas
And the only safe place to live is on the Indian Reservation
And the band played on

Eve of destruction, tax deduction, city inspectors, bill collectors
Mod clothes in demand, population out of hand, suicide, too many bills
Yuppies moving to the hills
People all over the world shouting, "End the war!"
And the band played

Ball of confusion (that's what the world is today)
Ball of confusion (that's what the world is today)
Ball of confusion (that's what the world is today)
Great googalooga, can't you hear us talking to you
Sayin'...Ball of confusion

People will forget what you said.
People will forget what you did.
But people will never forget how you made them feel.

Bush has no control over oil prices. you want to know why the price of gas is so high? It's called capitalism. The oil companies can get away with charging an arm and a leg for it so they do.

it wouldn't matter how Bush feels about oil. To change an entire country's source of fuel would take decades. He may be in bed with oil, but there's no relationship with his feelings and oil prices.

That's the responsibilitiy of the market. You don't buy records or even cd's anymore do you? Everyone converted to mp3s even at the relutance and almost demise of the record industry.

Prices on oil could be lower, but the envioronmentalist keep blocking any new drilling for oil in the US. It's not even a supply issue here since we haven't built a new refinery in the US because of the environmentalist. I'm not against them, but that's a major reason.

Remeber the president cannot just make laws, it has to be passed by the house and senate.

getting into the "coulda, shoulda, woulda" is pointless. there as saying that goes "If your mother had balls, she'd be your father." It doesn't matter what SHOULD or COULD be done. What matters is what IS being done.

Another example could be the recording industry. It costs less than 5 cents to make a CD nowadays, add in a couple dollars per cd to go to the band and record company, and you have a CD for $10. Sell a couple hundred thousand, and you're still making a good profit. But CDs sell anywhere between $15 to $20.

do you realize that only %15 of the cars on the road today can handle gasoline with an ethanol content of %20 or higher? I live where you can get E-85, but I cant use it.

I would like to see everyone using %10 mixes though.

Prices of ethonal are even more of a risk right now. the states dont keep enough corn to keep a stabile ethanol price for an expanded market. ethanol prices right now are outrageous because we are running low, eagerly awqaiting harvest.

Amazing. You have a wealth of knowledge bestowed before you via the internet, and you don't use .05% of it.

ETHANOL (thats how you spell it) isn't something you just snap your fingers and convert the whole United States to. And, why the fuck does it matter what Brazil (thats how you spell it) does anyway? They are a 3rd world country, and they also export....ALOT OF OIL to the US.

OIL has nothing to do with gas prices. Has the price of carpet gone up? What about the price of paint? What about the price of plastic bags, or clothes or shoes. I'm not talking TRANSPORT costs, I'm talking actual production costs.

Gas companies have to charge what they charge to keep consumption down. Its simple economics and simple supply and demand. There hasn't been a new refinery built in the US since the 70's, so even if we had FREE OIL gas would still be the price it is.

Wait a minute...what do you care about the price of gas anyway. I thought you rode the bus.

Actually the price of oil and metals are on the rise because the US aren't the only major consumer anymore. China and India have really added to the demand of oil and metals. Did you know it now cost the government over one cent to make a penny and over a nickle for a nickle!

My, that is a big profit. Oh, but what is the profit MARGIN? That is a more important of a question.

Actually, the margin was around 10-11%, which ain't bad, but most banks and other corporations do better than that. And how much of this profit is going to be reinvested into more exploration and capital projects? During last quarter, they spent over 5 billion on new exploration and improvements. And, as previously mentioned elsewhere, environmental concerns somehow never get the blame for high prices, even though that is a HUGE part of the pricing puzzle.

Any big conglom should not be trusted, and needs to be watched. Just don't let the media be that watchdog, it is as crooked and biased as anything else out there...

i'll say to you the same thing i said to the other person who brought up te profit margin: it doesn't matter a damn what the profit margin is. Many companies may have a bigger margin, but none have bigger profits. when you make $10 billion in profits, it doesn't really matter if you're margin is 1%.....

again, with a $10 billion profit, they have $10 billion to reinvest or explore. That's quite enough money unlesss they're planning on exploring Mars for oil.

also, money for exploration or reinvesting wouldn't get counted as profit anyway. it's an expense......so when they make $10 billion, their expenses for exploration has already been taken out. if they want to do more, fine, but it's coming from what is already pure profit. so, no it doesn't matter.

In order to earmark a budget for expenditures, you need to....make money. We can go around in circles here, but my real point is that most people have been conditioned to have a knee-jerk reaction to many things, one being gas prices, and use reasoning that is unrealistic and inaccurate. Do I feel oil companies are do-gooders, saints in all they do, just in the biz for the good of the people? Hell no.

It's too damn easy to gripe about profit, and have that the end-all of argument. If they have "record" profits, it only stands to reason that at least part of the explanation is that gas is costing more due to inflation, I mean almost everything in the world cost more now than 10 years ago, and there is also a larger demand for more gas as the population grows accordingly.

I actually am holding out hope that technology will advance the automotive world enough so we can lessen our addiction to fossil fuels. It's about time we look into the future. I drive an F150, and feel like bending over every time I am at the pump!

I just grow tired of the same simplistic rhetoric time and time again, when there is more to the picture....

$10 Billion in one Quarter. 10% return in investment. That's one oil company!

I think what it boils down to is that not only America but the World should be looking into a modern age Manhattan Project! We poured into a ton of money at the time in World War II to nuke the enemey.

The new enemy is just a foreign soil that we can't control but a choice WE can't control. That is the need for energy/oil at this point in time. I don't see anyone slowing down on the highway or doing anthing like when we had an 'energy crisis' from the 70's. It's a lack of control.

If we had a new Manhattan Project to control atom/energy like in the 40's we can control hydrogen/energy for our needs today.

People will forget what you said.
People will forget what you did.
But people will never forget how you made them feel.
