Ever Wonder?

No More!!!!!

The headlines report AAA says this will be the busiest Memorial Day ever, they say that every year. Stores will be busy with sales, people will have friends and family over for the kick off to summer.

Please let us not forget what this weekend is all about, those fallen heros that gave their lives for our freedom. Freedom is not free, but paid with blood and tears. So over the weekend give a moment to pause and reflect:

Remember rockets red glare
bombs bursting in air
gave threw the night that our flag is still there.

Our forefathers reminder of a price to be paid and responsibility to inherit the United States.
Rockets red glare bombs bursting in air
Words fallen on ears unwilling to hear.
deaf no more we all know now the price of freedom the price of war.

Freeborn children listen and see a new generation paying for you and me
Don't be so blind or so deaf to the sights and sounds Americans have left,
Let freedom scream in our ears and minds never forget those left behind.
Freeborn children stand tall and see! does the banner old glory yet wave for thee

God bless America.

Forget me not.

it is a shame that memorial day is only about barbeques and beer these days. on an unrelated note, i've never understood why Armed Forces Day is not a national holiday.

Hey! Hier kommt Alex

You said in an unrelated topic is is very much so related. I guess we take these liberties for granted and just look at it as a 3 day holiday, Memorial day was always May 30th (see http://www1.va.gov/opa/speceven/memday/h istory.asp#hist for the history).

People will forget what you said.
People will forget what you did.
But people will never forget how you made them feel.

I totally agree. To the majority of Americans it's just a "day off"! And just like every other holiday -- it has been commercialized by the retail industry to get people to go shopping -- holiday "sales"!!! The biggest gimick retail uses to get profits!

Alex raises a good point, do you ugoto.com peole give thought to the meaning of the holiday or is it just another day off?

I fly my flag proudly all weekend to honor those who sacrificed for me

and on an unrelated note... there is a push to give people a lottery ticket for voting... a better reward would be " you dont vote, your drivers liscense gets suspended."

What is sadder is that more people voted for an "American Idol" contestant than any U.S. president. Ever!

If you take your freedoms for granted, eventually they will watered down and then taken from you!

To all those Ugoto.com members that served in the military, THANK YOU for your service and sacrifice to our country!

both my grandfathers fought in WWII, one in Europe, the other in the Pacific. 2 of my best friends are in the sandbox right now. I can and will never forget what i owe to the people willing to fight for their country.
