Well this is it! Im hitching up my skirt and im stepping out of the family home into my very own flat by myself!! Its been a journey... applying for the flat, the suspense of waiting for the news, the elation of finding out I had been accepted, the excitment of buying new furniture and household items and the last night jitters before the big move! Tomorrow I shall finally have that long awaited independance and take that first step into my new flat. Wish me luck!!!

Why do you call them flats? I've heard of shoes called flats. There are some areas of Utah called the Salt Flats. They're flat, and comprised of a foot thick layer of rock hard salt that goes for miles in every direction.

Are your houses flat?

And why do you have to apply to get one? Here, you walk up, tell the guy with the house you want to rent it, they say give me money, you give them money, and then you move in and set up your meth lab.
