A 90-year-old Man Said To His Doctor
Next

I believe that I have just witnessed the single weirdest moment in my years of experience with computers. What I went through in the past few hours is confusing at least.

I believe that I can link what happened last night and this morning to an event that happened a few weeks ago. When I started Maxthon (my browser), the cookies didn't work. I checked out a few things, everything was as it should be, so I just thought that it might be a windows glitch and rebooted. After the reboot, everything worked fine.

Fast forward to last night.

I was getting ready to go to bed, and out of nowhere, an icon popped up saying that my cookies folder was corrupt and that I should run chkdsk. Okay, I did that, and no problems were found. Just to be on the safe side, I ran a virus checker (with the latest definitions ofcourse). Since the check would take a while, I went to bed.

This morning, when I woke up, the virus check had finished and found nothing. As I closed it and turned on my browser, the same corrupt cookies icon showed up. I decided to run chkdisk again, but now to perform a full scan.

That's when the fun starts.

Chkdsk wouldn't start. It would come up to the blue screen it has and just stop there. After a few reboots, I got it to work and perform a full system scan. Which it did, and found no errors. I rebooted, XP started loading, got to the blue screen when it loads the settings, and then just kept rebooting itself.

And at this point, the freaking out starts.
I woke up my roommate, plugged my hard disk into his computer and booted it up. It worked, which was a good sign. The hard drive wasn't dead. So I moved stuff from drive C that I needed to back up onto other drives, deleted the cookies folder and plugged it back into my PC.

I booted it up and it works. It works. I rebooted a few times to make sure, it works.

And apart from me loosing all my cookies, everything works great.

I'm confused.

That sounds like what i went through 3 months ago. The rebooting by itself part and freaking out. Mine ended up ok too but yeah, i was confused to no end.

I've had this discussion with my computer at home. If it EVER DOES THIS....it knows what will happen.
This happened to the last one. A 286 Pentium II...

And the tool that helped me get the job done.

I had video, but for some reason I can't find it.

YEP! The .44 mag. If things go well, I hope to get the .50AE and the .357. Mine is a Mark VII, but i want the 3 in one kit in the Mark XIX.
AND when you see anyone in the movies shooting this gun one handed....they aren't shooting it. (Matrix, Charlies Angels...etc)

If I use reloaded ammo, they are about $.40 each round. New is about $.75 give or take $.10. The 50AE rounds are $1.25 each new and about $.75 for reloads. But with reloads, you can always add a bit more powder for an extra kick. P+ loads are what they are called some times. Good for killing a bear and cracking the frame of the gun.

This guns sights are set pretty far as well. I have made "heat shots" on a paper target in an indoor range down the street from my shop at 60yds. Considerably easier at 25 yds. It takes a steady hand to hold that thing up fully loaded and squeeze the trigger. Especially after I've shot 100 rounds in an hour.

I used to have my targets here....I need to keep them for show and tell. I had one where I grouped 8 head shots at about 40 yds. Fun times.

I shot an 8" round of steel about 3 inches thick hanging from a 10" long chain on a post. Cool target to hit. It rang like a bell, and wrapped itself around the post. Thats a hell of a lot of torque to pull that off. About a 40-60 lb slab of steel.
I'll grab a picture of the 3/16" steel plate I have that has a hole through it.
